The Minister also signed three memorandums of understanding with Chinese partners.
“The visit of President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China is a tremendous honor for our country. I am honored to have had the opportunity to welcome him and attend the meetings of Chinese President Xi Jinping with President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić,” stated Dr. Begović on this occasion.
She signed three significant memorandums that will enable further cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China. These include the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia and the China National Space Administration on cooperation in the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS); the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia and the China National Space Administration on cooperation in space exploration and utilization for peaceful purposes; and the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in poverty alleviation through science and technology between the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
“The Chinese people stood with us during the most challenging moments in Serbian history, and this visit confirms the exceptional relations between our two countries. The friendship between the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China is rooted in tradition and mutual support nurtured over decades. The Republic of Serbia is and always will be a partner to China, and I am delighted that we have proven this with the magnificent welcome of Xi Jinping,” said Dr. Jelena Begović.
“In the next three years, our Chinese friends will host fifty of our scientists and invite as many as three hundred Serbian students to study in China. Additionally, innovations in new technologies, including artificial intelligence, represent a great opportunity for further development and strengthening the ties between our two countries,” concluded Dr. Begović.
