With the aim of developing and applying artificial intelligence technology in public administration, research within the academic community and its institutions and the entire industry of the Republic of Serbia, as well as helping startup companies in developing their products, the Government of the Republic of Serbia provided the National Platform for Artificial Intelligence (AI Platform). The development of the National Platform is defined by the goals and measures of the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2020-2025.
The AI platform, i.e. the supercomputer, is located in the State Data Center in Kragujevac.
The platform consists of four DGX-A100 nVIDIA servers with a total of 32 GPUs for DL processing and multi-node HPC simulations. It is a universal system for AI computing tasks, from analytics via training to inference. This system establishes a new computing density standard by providing 5 petaFLOPS of AI performance in 6U units.
The DGX A100 represents a new generation of nVIDIA NVLink™ that doubles direct GPU bandwidth to GPU at 600 gigabytes per second (GB/s).
Each of the four DGX-A100 systems has eight nVIDIA A100 Tensor Core graphics processors that bring new precision - TF32. The A100 GPU also has class-leading 1.6 terabytes per second (TB/s) memory bandwidth.
The new multi-instance Gpu (Mig) innovation splits one nVIDIA A100 GPU into as many as seven independent GPU instances. They operate simultaneously, with cache memory and streaming multiprocessors, which guarantees the A100 GPU excellent quality of service and almost seven times higher utilization compared to previous GPUs.
This unrivaled power provides the fastest time to solutions for training, inference and analytics allowing users to cope with challenges that were not previously possible or practical to perform.
Two AMD Epic 7742 processors manufactured at 7nm (nanometers) are located in the DGX-A100 system, each supplying 64 cores (128 cores in total) with a base frequency of 2.25 GHz and one terabyte of system memory.
The Storage system is based on a parallel file system; it has 24 x 7.68TB NVMe SSDs with more than 176TB of raw capacity (raw storage). The same storage system is used by nVIDIA in its California plants.
The National Platform for Artificial Intelligence will provide users with an easier and faster way to solve AI tasks, the ability to solve large and complex problems, create better and more complex models with incomparable performance that allow more iterations and thus represents a serious resource to help strengthen the entire AI community in Serbia.
