Professor Pavlovic highlights that the exhibition is one of the results of a university collaboration project between the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Belgrade and the Central University of North Carolina in the field of applying artificial intelligence and digital technologies in distance education.
"As part of this project, funded by the Embassy of the United States in Serbia, we focused not only on developing modern digital educational platforms but also on various aspects and applications of generative artificial intelligence. The graphics in the exhibition are the result of applying different software packages based on artificial intelligence to obtain visual data, which I then shaped in a way that allows me to explain the process of acquiring knowledge about reality through information processing, symbol manipulation, and narrative construction. In this way, I presented the concept of technology and technique through graphic representation, which, alongside its everyday practical value, also provides a framework for how we perceive and give meaning to the world around us", Professor Pavlovic stated.
He also added that artificial intelligence is being used in various fields of agriculture and the food industry, and the Faculty of Agriculture is a regional leader in these areas.
"A few years ago, we established a special study program called Biotechnical Engineering. Furthermore, within the Department of Mathematics and Physics, we formed the Data Research and Bioinformatics Center, where, among other things, we engage in the application of artificial intelligence in agricultural and biotechnical sciences. This is particularly important, given the Ministry of Science's strong commitment to supporting all modern trends in science, including various applications of artificial intelligence", he concluded.
Olga Vlacic, Consul-General at the General Consulate of the Republic of Serbia in New York, mentioned that Prof. Dr. Vladimir Pavlovic's exhibition is something entirely new in the cultural offerings of the General Consulate.
"By addressing the highly topical theme of applying artificial intelligence in segments of creativity previously exclusively reserved for the human mind, the exhibition provides visitors with insight into the possibilities of using artificial intelligence tools in visual art, while also inviting them to contemplate the future of art as a whole. We believe that Prof. Pavlovic's works will be of great interest to the New York audience and will present Serbia as a country of science and innovation that is in step with global scientific trends", she added.
