First Meeting of the Working Group for Scientific and Technological Cooperation Between Serbia and China Held

The meeting was conducted within the framework of the Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation signed in 2009 between the governments of Serbia and China, as well as the Joint Statement on Building a Sino-Serbian Community with a Shared Future in the New Era, signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Serbia on May 8, 2024.

1. Preparation for the 7th Session of the Committee
• Scheduled for 2025 in Belgrade, with a proposal for the session to be chaired by the respective ministers of both countries.
2. Launch of a Serbia-China Dialogue on Innovation
• Proposed to hold the first session of this Dialogue in 2025 as a side event to the 7th Committee session or another major event in Serbia or China.
3. Joint Call for Poverty Alleviation Projects through Science and Technology
• A possibility to launch a collaborative initiative in 2025 aimed at leveraging science and technology to address poverty.
4. Development of a Long-Term Cooperation Plan
• Agreement on the Plan for the Improvement of Bilateral Scientific and Technological Cooperation (2025–2035), focusing on key areas such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, green energy, and new materials.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold the second Working Group meeting in the country hosting the 8th session of the Committee, scheduled one year prior to the session itself.

This inaugural meeting represents a significant step forward in strengthening the scientific and technological partnership between Serbia and China. It opens new opportunities for collaborative innovation, fostering bilateral ties, and advancing projects that will benefit both nations in priority fields.
