Second Italy-Serbia Science Forum Opens in Trieste

The Second Italy-Serbia Science Forum was officially inaugurated at the AREA Science Park in Trieste, bringing together scientific minds from both nations to foster collaboration and progress. The opening ceremony featured addresses by Serbia’s Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, Dr. Jelena Begović, and Italy’s Minister of Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini.

Reflecting on the inaugural forum held in Belgrade in 2023, Minister Dr. Begović highlighted the event’s significance in laying the groundwork for collaboration between Italian and Serbian scientists. “This gathering, under the slogan ‘Uniting Minds, Bridging Borders,’ is an exceptional opportunity to deepen cooperation in science, innovation, and technological advancements—areas critical to the future of our countries,” she stated. Dr. Begović emphasized that the Forum is more than just a conference; it is a platform that unites individuals with a shared vision of advancing science without borders and leveraging innovation to create a more sustainable and better world.

Minister Anna Maria Bernini praised Serbia’s strides in artificial intelligence and expressed optimism about the potential for even greater progress through collaborative efforts between the two nations. “We have reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening the friendly ties between Italy and Serbia and working together to drive scientific and technological advancement,” Bernini remarked.

During the event, Minister Dr. Begović extended an invitation to Minister Bernini to visit Serbia for the Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, themed “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.”

The forum continues to serve as a vital bridge between Italian and Serbian researchers, fostering partnerships that push the boundaries of science and innovation while promoting a shared vision for a brighter future.
