One of the most significant AI events in the region, the Eastern European Machine Learning Summer School (EEML 2024), was recently held in Novi Sad, organized by the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Serbia and a team of scientists from Google DeepMind, in collaboration with the Novi Sad Science and Technology Park.

The event gathered over 190 participants from 47 countries, including PhD students, researchers, and industry professionals. Over six days of intensive lectures and workshops, participants had the opportunity to learn directly from the world’s leading AI experts.
Acting Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Serbia, Prof. Dr. Dubravko Ćulibrk, emphasized the importance of this event for the region, highlighting Serbia's success in drawing international AI community attention. He noted that participants were introduced to the latest research and applications in AI, including advanced deep learning architectures, multimedia learning, and generative models.
Google DeepMind scientist and EEML lecturer Dr. Matko Bošnjak stressed the importance of developing AI solutions with practical applications across various industries. According to him, Google DeepMind is actively exploring AI applications in new areas, opening up promising perspectives for future advancements.
The EEML event in Novi Sad reaffirms the value of investing in science and research, the need for continuous education, and the importance of fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
