Serbia Participated in the 6th Session of the GPAI Ministerial Council

In a significant address at the 6th session of the GPAI Ministerial Council, Serbia's Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, Dr. Jelena Begović, expressed her delight in participating in the summit, even if only virtually. "I am thrilled to join you today, even online. I extend my deepest gratitude to the OECD and the GPAI Secretariat for their tireless efforts in organizing this pivotal meeting and ensuring the seamless continuation of work across all GPAI bodies", she stated in her opening remarks.

GPAI, an initiative established in 2020, aims to set global standards and guidelines for the development of artificial intelligence and to accelerate AI advancement worldwide. The Republic of Serbia, one of the 29 member countries, will serve as the chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) over the next three years, acting as the assistant chair in the first and third years, and taking on the role of main chair in the second year. This leadership transition was welcomed by the ministers of Japan and India.

"Looking ahead, I am pleased to announce that the next Ministerial Council meeting will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, during the GPAI summit scheduled for December 3rd and 4th, 2024. We eagerly anticipate welcoming ministers from our current 29 member countries and, with optimism, even more nations joining our global collaborative efforts by then. Together, through open dialogue and unwavering commitment, we can shape the future of artificial intelligence for a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable world", Minister Begović concluded.
