The construction of the new STP Čačak building, funded by a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), represents a significant investment in Serbia’s domestic innovation ecosystem and is scheduled for completion by December 2025. The facility will cover a gross area of 12,759 m² and represents a total investment of €20.2 million, providing workspace for around 50 companies and employment for between 200 and 300 highly skilled professionals.
“Currently, over 40 companies operate within STP Čačak, each developing their unique ideas and innovations. They are highly ambitious and aim to reach the global market. This contributes not only to Serbian exports but also to the development of innovation and intellectual property that remains in Serbia. More importantly, it brings together young people, entrepreneurs, scientists, and multidisciplinary teams who use their expertise and knowledge to develop innovations that make our world better and our lives richer. This is Serbia's future," stated Dr. Jelena Begović, Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation.
Prime Minister Miloš Vučević emphasized the importance of such investments for Serbia’s economic growth: “We have capable, well-trained, and prepared people with a clear vision and plans for what comes next,” he said, adding that they are a source of pride. “This is a winning story and the Serbia we want to see,” Vučević concluded.
STP Čačak Director Mirko Pešić highlighted the importance of investing in the development of the innovation ecosystem, adding that such efforts promote the competitiveness of Serbia’s economy, the advancement of modern technologies, and professional development.
The EBRD will continue its collaboration with Serbian institutions, stated Matteo Colangeli, EBRD Regional Director for the Western Balkans. “Congratulations on this important day for Čačak; this is an excellent example of the swift implementation possible through cooperation with dedicated and efficient partners,” Colangeli said.
Čačak Mayor Milun Todorović highlighted the importance of this investment for the youth in Čačak, expressing gratitude to the Serbian government for its support.
Founded in 2011, STP Čačak currently provides 5,733 m² of production and office space, housing 46 active companies, 42 innovations, and over 140 employees.
