Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics

The master's study program "Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning" at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, is one of four programs chosen by the Minister of Education, Science, and Technological Development as proposals for new study programs in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The Commission for Accreditation and Quality Assurance reached a decision on accreditation of the master's academic study program "Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning" at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Niš on October 28, 2021. This academic year, the faculty will hold a competition to admit twenty budget students and twenty self-financing students.

The globally recognized company Nvidia Corporation, one of the world's largest manufacturers of graphics chips for personal computers and professional markets, decided to support the program by donating EDGE computers from its production program to teach Machine Learning and artificial intelligence in robotics. We'd want to take this time to thank NVIDIA for their generosity.

The study program is in the discipline of computer science, within the field of scientific and mathematical sciences, and lasts four semesters, or two school years. To finish the courses at this level, 120 ECTS must be obtained, which grants the professional title of Master of Informatics - Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Students in the program can select seven required and five optional courses from a list of 34 available.

In the third semester, professional / pedagogical practice and research work in the function of professional practice realization are scheduled. In the final semester, study research work is completed inside the master's thesis, which is required for the development of the master's thesis, as well as the preparation and defense of the master's thesis itself.

The purpose of this study program is to help increase the quantity and quality of local professionals in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning, therefore helping to create circumstances for the further growth of this vital and promising industry in Serbia.

The goal of this study program is to provide students with theoretical and practical expertise in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. This knowledge includes:

  • Identification and analysis of problems, implementation and application of machine learning algorithms and models, and artificial intelligence in solving specific problems and tasks;
  • development of new algorithms and models, as well as new ways of applying existing algorithms and models, in solving practical problems and tasks in science, industry, economics, banking and finance, health care, and education;
  • management of the development and application of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
